RoadReady Grade Crossing Controllers¶
The RoadReady line of model railroad grade crossing controllers from Iowa Scaled Engineering offers a way to bring simple, realistic crossing signal operation to your model railroad. We offer two versions - the RoadReady Basic and the RoadReady Pro - to meet both simple and complex needs.
The RoadReady Basic is designed to provide simple crossing animation and sound. It provides robust outputs for LED crossing signals and includes a speaker and seven different selectable prototype bell recordings. It uses two plug-and-play TrainSpotter detectors to trigger the crossing (as a crossing island circuit, with a programmable timeout once the sensors clear.
The RoadReady Pro keeps all the features of the Basic model, and adds the ability to control two or four quandrant gates using servos or motors (such as Circuitron Tortoises), and have approach sensors, like the prototype, allowing the crossing to trigger long before the train arrives.
Features¶
Both models of our RoadReady crossing controllers offer the following features:
- Plug-and-play detectors and speaker connections - no fiddly terminal blocks!
- Rock solid TrainSpotter optical detection - works in any ambient lighting conditions
- Universal Power - works from 8V to 24V DC or DCC
- Seven different built-in prototypical crossing bell sounds
- Included speaker with custom-designed resonance chamber
- Configurable island sensor timeouts
- Works with common anode (common positive) LED grade crossing signals
- Robust, protected signal output drivers will handle 1 amp of current
- Compatible with the Track Expansion Module
The RoadReady Pro adds the following features:
- Crossing gate control using servos or motors for two-quadrant or four-quadrant gates
- Approach circuit logic for up to two tracks
- Configurable approach sensor timeouts
- Lamp or LED emulation for the crossing signals
- A constant output in addition to left/right flashers, active when the lights are on
- Expandable with four more TrainSpotters for a second track, or with a Track Expansion Module for even more tracks.
